When all else fails, just blame Billy.
Melania Trump on Monday dismissed her husband’s past brags of assaulting women “as boy talk” and said he only uttered the despicable remarks into a hot mic in 2005 because he was “egged on” by then-“Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush.
In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper airing Monday night, the former model was asked about the 2005 tape released weeks ago that showed her husband bragging about using his fame to hit on women and “grab them by the p—y.”
The prospective first lady admitted that Trump’s language was “inappropriate” and “not acceptable” and said she “was surprised,” but pointed to the fact that the conversation occurred behind closed doors.
“The cameras were not on, it was only a mic. And I wonder if they even knew that the mic was on,” she said, referring to the tape that captured the disgusting conversation between Trump and Bush.
Trump, his wife said, “was led on, like, egged on, from the host to say dirty and bad stuff.”
“That’s why I was surprised, because I said like I don’t know that person that would talk that way, and that he would say that kind of stuff in private,” she added.
“I heard many different stuff, boys talk,” Trump added. “The boys, the way they talk when they grow up and they want to sometimes show each other, ‘Oh, this and that’ and talking about the girls. But yes, I was surprised, of course.”
The interview was Trump’s first since the incriminating tape of her husband emerged. Trump himself has dismissed his past remarks caught on the tape as “locker room banter” and has insisted he never engaged in any of the actions he described. But in the days since its release, at least 10 women have come forward alleging that Trump had, on many occasions, also carried out the lewd acts he spoke of.
