Why Black People Don’t Get Hired: The Dr. Boyce Explanation
by Dr. Boyce Watkins
Ta-Nehisi Coates at The Atlantic recently wrote an article called “The Economics of Magazines and Diversity.” The title was not nearly as interesting as the one that reeled me in: “Why Magazines Don’t Hire Black Writers.” The question is one that I hear asked on a regular basis, and one that I’ve thought about quite a bit.
Coates seems to boil the issue down to two things: 1) A lack of diversity that lies within the DNA of many major publications, and 2) The fact that these publications are even struggling to hire the white guys. Many of today’s publications are no longer the powerhouses they once were, and are effectively “Dead Men Walking,” with a life expectancy about as long as the rapper Lil Wayne.
With complete respect to Coates’ points, I find it interesting that African Americans tend to have conversations about economic and job opportunities that lie inside a social bubble with an unwavering racial ceiling. We sit around and wonder why white guys seem to have so much power over our lives, and why we can’t get jobs with companies that are owned by the descendants of our historical oppressors. We’ve become, in some cases, like the hooker who doesn’t understand why her pimp doesn’t give her a bigger allowance, rather than asking herself why she’s submitting to the pimp in the first place.
The point is this: The reason we can’t get jobs as black writers is because we don’t create our own publications. The fact is that, in 2018 America, even with your swaggadoshis black president and his beautiful black wife, many of us are still living in a fantasy land. We truly believe that, if we work hard enough and have the same qualifications as the white guy, they are going to give us the same opportunities and simultaneously allow us to be something close to our authentic selves. Sorry my friends, but that’s just stupid.
Would you let someone move into your house and then shift around the furniture? No, you would not. After all, it’s your house, you built it, and you make the rules. The only way you might even consider allowing someone to stay in your house (which you probably would not) is if they do what you say and live by your rules. Moving the furniture is probably not even an option, and if it is, they can only move things after getting your approval.
The point is that, it only makes sense that a white guy is going to hire other people who are just like him. After all, that’s what many people do. Don’t get me wrong, you should pick the best person for the job and all that good stuff, but the fact is that when resources are scarce, the first people you help are those in your family or social circle. That’s why I offer my daughters chances to work for me before I consider anyone else and why President Obama chose an undeniably unqualified man like Arne Duncan to run the Department of Education (no offense Arne, but I have too many friends in Chicago who agree with me). The fact is that if it’s my house, I make the rules and I decide where the furniture is going to be.
So, for all of the aspiring writers who get your feelings hurt every week because CNN, MSNBC, The Atlantic and The New York Times aren’t returning your calls, I can give you this piece of advice: There is a chance that they will never call you and when they do, they are going to expect you to be one of them. It’s the only rational way for them to protect their brand. If you truly want to be free, get off the psychological and economic plantation and take pride in creating your own business. The Internet is wide open, and there are tools out there to help you own the land on which you stand. Stop letting the world set your limitations and start taking what belongs to you.
With regard to Mr. Coates, the Finance Professor in me agrees with every single thing he says. These institutions certainly have exclusion in their DNA, and the fact is that most of us have some kind of exclusion in our DNA is well. The only way to get power and true equality is to learn to build and develop something yourself and not wait for someone else to save you. Just because someone lets you in the door, that doesn’t mean they respect you, similar to how a man might feel if another man needs to stay in his basement.
True freedom, equality and opportunity are created, not given. Self-sufficiency is the ultimate cure for racism.

Sorry Mr. Boyce but you have it all wrong Brother…
The reason is very simple…CONGRESS!!!
The USA congress will not change discrimination laws, and they will not change the hidden business laws, you know, the one that tell banks not to give us loans, or the one that do tell banks to give us business loans, knowing that the deals are bad deals and that we will not get another loan to continue to do business…
We need a fair shake and a fair start…current laws are preventing us from moving forward…it takes money to start a business of any kind…
Just like the corner stores use to be Black owned before the 1980’s, and the government has allowed those businesses to die because they were not allowed to receive loans for basic business needs such as building maintenance, inventory, etc…
Just like the housing market, you drive into any black hood and the houses are falling apart because the banks will not give them loans to remodel or for basic maintenance…
Once congress understand this basic needs and change the discrimination laws to make it easier for one to prove discrimination “during the hiring process”, and in the lending industry, then things would be a lot better…
We already know that the typical, white male perverted catholic, is only going to hire someone like him…
I do not think you are worthy of the title “Doctor”

You and a lot of people are completely missing the point and it’s continuing to drive us (black people in America) further away from self sufficiency.
We as black people can’t expect the government (or anybody else for that matter) to do for us what we need to do for us.

Despite all these obstacles if the bank refuse to provide loans then gather your friends or dreamers who think like you and believe in you to create the pool of money for your business.

Dr. Boyce is correct about the fact that Black people need to pay more attention to building our own businesses. It has long been a serious problem… Black people must develop our own publications, services, businesses, etc. — rather than waiting for others to create jobs for us. Now that we are suffering in this poor economy…that issue has come to the forefront in bright lights. But also, we must stay on the case of pressing for more opportunities in the broader markets — such as working for major magazines, newspapers and big corporations. We must deal on all fronts in order to uplift our community and this nation.

So true! I recommend that all Black men find and read a copy of Kevin L. Smith’s “DO YOU WANT PAYCHECKS OR PROFITS?” It would be beneficial to hear authors like Claud Anderson, Ed.D. speak at forums such as “The State of Black America”.
I love doing business with Black folk. We are among the most talented professionals and tradesmen. We can be A students, but our C student counterparts will hire us to work for him! Why?
Black folk have been programmed to provide loyal labor for entrepreneurs who, most likely, are not Black.
Black men and women should dominate in businesses that serve our people. Instead, we’d rather get a paycheck from the big profits that others make off our communities. Not smart!

Ultra Sheen, Softsheen, Dark & Lovely, cosmetic companies and many more — were started and once owned by African American people! The White giants in the beauty industry who own and dominate the distribution outlets all over the world and buy display , shelf space in retail outlets compete against small business and rather than loose their fortune are pressured to sell out — the barriers in place by design prevent African Americans in particular to become the Clairol’s, L’Oreal’s or Hearst (“O” Magazine); Time Warner (Essence Magazine); Forbes (Legacy Magazine)…all once owned by African Americans! The playing field is not equal by design and until the so-called laws that protect big business (White) and the Banks (White) and loan institutions (White) play fair…it won’t happen. I’m happy to see those who slip through the cracks and start their own business with some success. I plan to start my own business, however I fully understand what I am up against. The Web on-line business opportunity is becoming of age for minorities, and I hope this avenue might just be the answer to more African Americans able to create, start and own their own business.

I agree wholeheartedly with the the analysis expressed in this piece. I will say, however, that what white folks did to Tulsa, Olahoma (the Black Wall Street) and Marcus Garvey’s UNIA efforts show that no significant business/industry efforts by and for black folks will be sustained without developing the capability to defend them. Ronald Reagan was correct when he said, “Peace through strength.” Perhaps we can do this through science. Or, like we have been hoping for at least hundreds of years, we must wait for a higher power to step in and shield us from the brutality that will surely come.

The devil is where he is because he’s got his feet planted squarely on the Black man’s shoulders! In other words, it doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to assess that though most of the professional football and basketbal players are Black & most of the head coaches and “all” of the team owners are to the contrary.
Relatively speaking, George Washington Carver, born under the auspices of slavery, invented over 100 products from the peanut including peanut butter and several other products from the sweet potato including glycerin. However, being that satan had inhumane policies/laws in place that barred our ancestors from having/owning anything of “value” all of George Washington Carver’s inventions were taken/confiscated and up to this very day satan is manufacturing & controlling the distribution and profits from G.W. Carver’s many, many inventions!! My point is, how can we create a new this that or the other when satan is still in control of the land and all of the resources associated with whatever we “create?” Hell, we can’t even write a song without satan’s fingerprints, somewhere along the way. Our only solution is unity with an agenda to become “independent” & through our independence we’ll have full unwavering control over our creations/inventions. Lastly, it’s very important that everyone of us knows that satan is where he is today through lies, theft, gross criminal behavior and mass murder.

This is interesting, and I’m glad Dr. Boyce touched on this topic. This is similar to a concept that I learned in my Multicultural Media History class. What this article discusses is a part of the concept of Socialization in the Newsroom.
If you’re Black, and you try to integrate into mainstream outlets and believe you’re going to change things by reporting positive news about Black people, then you’re going to become the outcast, you will be fired or your work will be edited. But as we can see in this article, you won’t even be hired to start with.
In my last year in college after interning at a major netowrk and a local station, I’ve decided not to enter mainstream media for this reason among several other reasons.

I agree with the article and disagree with the person who yelled CONGRESS. We must stop participating in the corrupt system in order for the system to notice us. Walk away noisily, start your own, and patronize your family’s startups. CONGRESS is bought and paid. They will continue to ignore your letters and other forms of protest. Until we work to remove division within our own group, we deserve what we, as a group, get.

Ta-nahesi article was interesting in that it boil down to the fact that print media today is a hard sell for anyone. Ta-nahesi other articlle about Cord Jefferson’s piece in gawkers about adult who like to have sex with children is interesting. The title suggest that sex with children is consensual and not rape. When it should be called rape. Another point in the article is that some psychologists and psychiatrist are saying that maybe pedophiles are born that way. That sound familiar, like saying that homosexuals are born that way. Not too long ago homosexuality was called a disorder, now it is a sexual orientation like heterosexuality. Hopefully pedophilia is not going to take that same route. Watch as well as pray. Homosexuality has become banal, is pedophilia next?

Dr., you could be no more correct when you say, if you let someone into your home you would not want them to start making rule and or changes for you to follow.
Even though we as a people put quite a bit of money into the economy we have nothing to show for it because we are giving it right back to those who gave it to us. The African American economy has been spoken about for a while, some choose to leave, as Marcus Garvey, others choose to stay and fight, as Dr. Dubois, Dr. King, Jr., etc.. However, still in the twenty-first (21st) Century we are almost where we were in the 1940’s. Do not get me wrong, it is not going to be easy, we have a lot of negativisms to overcome. Most of it is not because we can help it but because they did a good job making sure that we do not get tied to anybody. You may wonder how they accomplished this big feat. But history taught us they took a family sold the father to Master Jim, the mother to Master Harry, little Nyah to Master John, and little Amishetu to Master David this went on for at least a century. This did not only affect our family, but also our culture, our language, etc… In addition, we learned to hate, distrust, envy, etc… ourselves. But during the 1970’s a new African American came alive and retaught us who we were, and what we can become. We learned that we are Kings and Queens, and most of all that we taught the world civilization.
With that said, we must stop, no we have to stop looking to our former masters for what is in our best interest. It is time for us to invest in ourselves, that is to say, get an education, and start our own businesses and supporting them.

What you just said is, Spot On!! Our African American Selves suffer from something we hate to discuss. And that is, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder of Generations of An Oppressor. Yes, it may sound crazy and silly, but we are Hard Wired Psychologically. In attempting to break the cerebral strings, we first have to admit there are threads that keep us slaves. figuratively. No, we do not need the white man to survive or even exists. But we have to co-exists. An Historically, every time Our People showed we could do without them, what happen? Some whites became extremely jealous of what had been created by Our Ancestors and destroyed it. An as a result, the oppressive nature within ourselves resumed. It is Our Survival Instinct. It plays a part in our decision making to think we have to depend on these racist. I believe it is innate.

All of your responses make sense, but they also confirm that the unemployment rate for blacks is a lot higher because of discrimination and the fact that Republicans are voting down anything President Obama tries to do to help everybody including the American Jobs Act. The GOP gets on tv & the radio and says they’re not going to work with President Obama to make sure he fails and to make him a one term president. And then the GOP has enough nerve to keep saying where are the jobs and that President Obama is not reaching across the aisle to work with them. The GOP is more to blame then the president is, they are OBSTRUCTIONIST. The GOP believes in making the entire country suffer, to bring one man down, more than they blieve in PROGRESS, and they have a lot of supporters that believe their BS.

I agree that black Americans shouldn’t strive to get other people to create jobs and hire them. I agree that black Americans should strive to create their own businesses, creating wealth for themselves. But as a business consultant I have watched far too many black businesses fail or be bought up by someone else because the black business owner was attempting to run a startup business while taking far too much money out of the business for his or her personal use. You cannot start trying to look like a highly successful business owner before your business is highly successful. You don’t see Asian small-business owners doing that. When starting as a business owner they drive old cars and live in small houses. And they teach their children how to run businesses.
One time I watched an Asian couple start up a small restaurant that had a few seats but mainly sold take out. In the beginning their two pre-teen children (11 and 12) did their homework at the restaurant in the evening. Within four years the parents started another restaurant and the children took over management of the original with one doing homework while the other managed – during the evening they switched roles. If the usual Asian family pattern holds, both of the kids will get a business/computer sciences degree from a local university and will already have a lot of business experience by the time they graduate. This is a good model for anyone to follow. Joseph L. Bass, Ed.D. http://www.abettersociety.info

Our Anu kins living in America must look to Mother Africa for business or job opportunities & inspiration. The western media wants to give you the impression that Africa is not a good place to invest in or live in, to keep you, the potential competition away. You will not be oppressed or discriminated in most Africa cities because you will be in the majority. Both the west & China are racing to get their hands on more African natural resources or business. I think it would make sense for all Anu to unite business wise….then there will be no need to ask or answer the subject question..

Excellent points here Dr. Boyce, but what if those who ARE Black-owned don’t compensate in a reasonable/timely manner or, worse yet, don’t want to pay AT ALL?!? I would love to write for an African-American publication, but those who’ve approached me want THIS professional to ‘volunteer,’ so if I want to not starve, the white-owned’ options are the only ones available to this freelancer.

Good points made by Dr. Boyce. But also, creating your own business is not simple nor easy. Not everybody can be an entrepreneur because it requires far more than just showing up 9 to 5.
Blacks do need to consider all options for which they are qualified and capable. They also need to have the right attitude when they get opportunities, because people — especially small business owners who might want to hire them for different projects — do not want to put up with baby-sitting adults. Also, some younger generations come to a new job with “entitlement” attitudes, acting like they are “all that” and not being open to learning.
Still, opportunities need to be available through major and minor organizations — large and small businesses. People also need to get experience before they’ll be able to make the kind of money they want to earn, so low-pay internships can sometimes help as well.

Don’t always agree with yr pov, but u r spot on with this one!
No disrespect to the heroes & martyrs of the civil rights movement but, we were steered down the wrong path with focus on integration vs do for self a la Elijah Mohammed, Garvey & others. We marched, got hosed, beat & jailed as we fell for the okie doke of dependency on others & focus on fitting in to that which never cared about our well being, humanity or our inclusion. The focus should have been to strengthen the movements that were building OUR OWN through community, cooperative economics(in fact all those Kwanzaa principles work if we used them), knowledge of self(both personal & our grand history or should I say OUR-story). Hopefully sooner than later we’ll figure this out and start a collective journey in the right direction.

To PB Short: You missed the point. The demographic makeup of Congress is overwhelmingly represented by those who “own the house”(whites) with a few of those “in the basement”(blacks) included. The “laws” that you say Congress needs to change are the “rules” that the “owner” maintains to insure that his “guests” don’t get out of line(stay under control) while in his house. A wise old man once told me “don’t forget who owns the reward system”. I concur with the theme of Dr. Watkins’ article; If you desire a different reward, create your own personal reward system. I’m thankful for the efforts Dr. King and others made. Many were Christian or Jewish and believed in the dignity of people.
Racism is less socially acceptable but some people still hold the beliefs in spite of the anti-discrimination laws and that’s what minorities need to navigate through.

Dr. Boyce Watkins– How about you instead explain to me and other African American readers/comment posters why it is you refused twice in a row to post my fully responsible comment I attempted to post yesterday Sept. 9, 2018 and today Sept. 10, 2018 in response to Jesse Jackson announcing that Obama needs to mention and address African American poverty and violence? Tell readers why you have been asked to specifically censor me in particular?
While you ponder, in the meantime, here is some far more serious and important information for African American readers to know about regarding nefarious and wicked private black club nationwide that you Dr. Boyce may well be a member of as well, which is the answer behind you censoring and refusing to post my comments about black peoples’ urgent need, only way, and short time to come together, which is to unite under Godly obedience, law, power, moral, social, and economic prosperity and protection all humbly living, loving, and working together in Africa the land Almighty God gave us.
Remember Judas and his 30 pieces of silver for betrayal of Jesus, His truth, and His mission? How about all those scribes, Pharisees, lawyers, judges, chief priests, rabbis, and all of the other crazy people including law enforcement Roman soldiers who crucified Him? Below is some foul food for serious thought as I’ve said all along about Black America’s so-called “Elite”–The best and brightest–really? Read below about Black America’s “Boule”. Like I’ve said for a very long time, one of White America’s and White Supremacy’s greatest weapons are the truly sick and dangerous black bullmasters and bullmistresses along with all other black people who help them target and deep-six black individual non-conformists and the black race overall in America and worldwide for award of money and prestige from nefarious white Jews and other Caucasians. However, the great obstacle the wicked ones and their evil deeds done in “high positions of authority and power” will never overcome or escape is Almighty God’s devine wrath, vengeance, care and protection of His People. So Obama, Fenty, Lightfoot, Wiggins, Irving, Rankin, Wright, Satterfield, Holder, Machen, Charlene, Muriel, Fred, John, Anthony, Vernon, Colin and all the rest along with your rich, wicked white Jewish masters / mistresses whose bidding you carry out bank on this for sure. Enjoy all the riches and luxury in the world as it is now for only a short time longer bad boys and girls. Almighty God’s Judgment Day and the “Lake of Fire” awaits all souls sold to satan helping to harm, berate, despise, and ignore the downtrodden. Folks, happy reading and, if the shoe fits, I know you wear it well. Also, be very sure to understand I don’t and will never fear you, your white masters, nor anything at all you’ve already done, can, or will do to me. “No weapon formed against me shall prosper”, those tried are stick-a-fork-in done already, and are either too dumb, ” black elite”, wicked white, and foolish to know it . The wicked’s day to burn will assuredly come.
THE BLACK ‘SKULL AND BONES’ – The “Boule”
December 18, 2009
-Senator Barack Obama, Archousai, Lisa Grain and Archon David Grain (Sarasota, Florida’s Gamma Xi Boulé)
By Lesley Terry
(for Henrymakow.com)
In 1904, the first African -American Greek Secret Society was formed in Philadelphia, by Dr. Henry Minton and five of his colleagues. The Boule, (an acronym for Sigma Pi Phi) and pronounced “boo-lay”), was formed to bring together a select group of educated Black men and women.
Fashioned after Yale’s Skull and Bones, the Boule historically takes pride in having provided leadership and service to Black Americans during the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, and the Civil Rights Movement.
What could the Boule offer America’s Blacks in the early 20th century? Joining the exclusive secret society offered advancement and perks to select Blacks in return for loyalty to its objectives.
The upper tenth of Blacks started to live the good life as Boule members, while the majority of ordinary Blacks were disenfranchised. But what were the Boule’s objectives?
REMAKING OF THE HOUSE NEGRO
The Boule recruits top Blacks in American Society into its ranks. Today, 5000+ Archons, (male Boule members) and their wives, (Archousais), with 112 chapters, make up the wealthiest group of Black men and women on the planet. “Archon” means “demon” – the kind that like to keep hidden.
But to who does the Boule really serve? The Satanic (mostly white) global elite! As long as the Black member conforms to the rules, the riches will be in abundance; if not, down comes the hatchet. Blackmail is part of the deal. This Masonic secret society has a pyramid style like all the rest. The lower ranks are kept from knowing what the upper ranks are doing.
The early 20th century was a period of reconstruction. Marcus Garvey’s “Back to Africa” Movement was in full swing. Garvey represented genuine Black leadership. W.E.B. Dubois, founding member of the NYC chapter of the Boule said, “The Boule was created to keep the black professional away from Marcus Garvey”.
The remaking of the House Negro was necessary to institute a group of Blacks who had a vested interest in protecting the Elite White System. It was about selling out brothers and sisters for power and money. The majority of Black lawyers, doctors, engineers and accountants were members of this secret club.
PREDATORY INTENTIONS
According to Bobby Hemmitt, underground Metaphysician and Occultist lecturer, “This Black elite society based on Skull and Bones (Yale) was chosen by the U.S. Government (Illuminati) to run Black neighborhoods.” See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA6jmaoG7V8
Conspiracy Theorist and Futurologist Steve Cokely, had this to say: “Anywhere there are prominent professional Blacks, chances are they’re in the Boule”. Martin Luther King and Jesse Jackson are reported to have been Boule members, among many other high profile, successful and moneyed Blacks such as Barack Obama, Bill Cosby, Al Sharpton and Thurgood Marshall.See this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey7gDJfRICA
The members of the Boule pose as Freedom Fighters or Civil Rights Activists on the surface. In truth, the elite members are operating for personal gain. The Boule works in concert with their masters in maintaining the grip of Illuminati supremacy on their people.
ADVISERS TO THE KING
The Boule is another arm of the nefarious secret societies that recruit, indoctrinate and cull for the dark forces. Therein are perks galore, power and notoriety all lying in wait for the easily compromised soul.
In the Greek system, the Boule was the Lower House of Parliament. Charged with organizing the affairs of the city for the King. Let that sink in.
This is an ancient story. The New World Order is The Old World Order. The elite Blacks of the Boule are culling and controlling their own for a slice of the elite white man’s pie.
COMPROMISING SITUATIONS
Like other secret societies, the Boule encourages homosexual trysts as initiation practices. This must be done to join the ranks. Bobby Hemmit says, “Any kind of top-notch Negro gets together and they f*ck each other.”
These perversions are then cataloged and stored on record. Later, if needed, these abuses may be used as bargaining tools in the ULTIMATE GAME. What is the Ultimate Game? Capturing human souls.
The enemy may appear to have a white face but it goes much deeper than that. This is a force cloaked within many facades, personas, fictions and governing powers. See here: http://masonfitup.blogspot.com/2009/12/masonic-initiation.html.
CONCLUSION:
We, the people, have been handed cultural, political and religious belief systems used to great advantage by these generational Satanists and lying collectives.
These elite systems promote dissension, division, hatred, bigotry and war. According to the ruling powers, people are objects that need to be controlled. Therefore, we have men and women in high places that are soulless and beyond the reach of normal reasoning processes.
We have an ancient enemy with a large collection of demonic assistants. The evil elite has had a good run. Though they may be certain skin colors, certain nationalities and creeds, they are apart from you and me. They have long ago abdicated any and all connections to a shared humanity.

Thanks for the info its about time somebody told the truth about these sell-out,milk toast, self hating Negroes. Always acting as though they are for the betterment of their people. Meanwhile behind closed getting their 30 pieces of silver.

David said (December 20, 2009):
The BOULE is a necessary step in the organization of freemasonry. It allows black people to be ‘house’ slaves instead of ‘field’ slaves and in fact to manage the ‘field’ slaves for the Masters. All the big names in America, past and present, seem tied into the Boule or other secret society. These members work for the fulfillment of satan through the practical implementation of plans for the control and decimation of their own kind. We are all patsies.
This raises the question of how other black people are organized. The leaders must belong to some kind of masonic society, headquartered in Europe or America. Are all masonic societies on the same side or are they rivals, too? Africa and the Caribbean Islands do have sizeable ‘black’ populations. Are their leaders members of the BOULE or other masonic society?
This must be true. If one examines the happenings in countries such as Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana, there are severe question marks about where the leadership obtained their policies from. In no case has there been any general socio-economic improvement for the masses. In all cases, one can see signs of decadence a la Sodom and Gommorah! Drugs and weapons proliferate and form part of the counter-culture. Shootings, kidnappings and killings have risen dramatically, as drug-blocks and rival gangs germinate. A decent lifestyle is no longer possible in these islands. Schools are breeding prostitutes and criminals. The Police are usually in cahoots with the crime bosses. So what have Leaders like Eric Williams, ANR Robinson, Patrick Manning, Basdeo Panday and their corrupt entourages really done for Trinidad? What have the Duvaliers and their successors done for Haiti? What have Michael and Norman Manley, Edward Seaga and Patrick Patterson done for Jamaica? What have Forbes Burnham, Cheddi Jagan and their successors done for Guyana? While their annual budget presentations seem convincing, they all achieved the progressive ruination of their countries because their agenda came from their masters in the Illuminati and the United Nations.
Africa is on a depopulation spiral. Bio-weapons were deliberately infiltrated into vaccines. The end result was death and disease for peoples who live on one of the wealthiest continents on the planet. Somebody wants Africa badly enough to kill all Africans for it. Poverty, malnutrition, diseases, violence, inflation, lack of production, value-less currencies etc plague every African nation. One would have thought that enough 20th century technology exists that could irrigate the deserts and conquer disease. But, that is not what the masters of the African leaders want! The masters want the total subjugation of Africa to them and their illicitly supported hirelings like Mugabe, make this possible. The UN plays a great role in subverting any genuine efforts to improve Africa. It is used as a vehicle for infiltration, subterfuge and ‘false flag’ events. No-one is wiser because Associated Press and Reuters are owned by the ‘masters’.
It is true to some degree to say that your own people keep you down. The BOULE is proof of this. Color of skin inspires loyalty to a racial elite that serves the wannabe ‘master race’ of Earth.

I think MOST of the posts here have some truth to them.* From my perspective, what’s missing is the CAPITAL that we MIGHT have had, if we had not begun our legacy on these shores ‘in shackles.’
If, instead of fighting with each other about whether we should:
1) rely on the largess and moral integrity of our government to protect our God-Given and Constitutional rights, or 2) whether we should rely on ourselves and each other to produce our own economic freedom, I say we should do BOTH.
However, we know, based on argument and precedent (i.e., the law of the land), that Government will only do what it is PRESSED to do. So to that end, we should be fighting for Reparations. If we were in receipt of Reparations – that which is our DUE, we would be able to produce our own economy. The ONLY thing between us and Reparations is our WILL to GET IT DONE.
Personally, I’m not certain that we’re ready to be repaired, but I believe we’re getting closer. I say that because many of us remain convinced that at least one of four DEADLY MYTHS is in effect. Those myths are: 1) white folks’ ice is colder;** 2) black folks ain’t nothin’;*** 3) we need a “savior” (Obama wasn’t he);**** or 4) ‘I got mine; how you get yours is your business.’ As we continue to kill off these myths, we will, in my estimation, get closer to the understanding that we are indeed capable of the personal and community transformation that will enable us to achieve our own economic freedom, WHILE ALSO holding our government accountable for stealing our birthright to the labor delivered by our fore-parents who were kidnapped, bred and enslaved captives, forced to build the infrastructure of this country’s economic engine.
At THAT point, as we become full economic players and competitors, wise folks from other communities will certainly seek us out to play along with them.
Simple, but not easy.
*(I have no idea what relationship the Boule may have with ANY of this, and I have NO thoughts about it, as such, in my reflections here.)
** … thus, we can’t live outside of an integrated economy. But – isn’t it interesting that a dollar in the Jewish community circulates 27 times, while it barely turns ONCE in the Black community. That’s because we don’t make much more than hair care products/ services, funerals and food in our own community.
*** … thus, we kill ourselves by eating badly or using drugs, or kill each other thru violence, or refusal to help each other because we hate ourselves so deeply.
**** … I think this is a hold-out from the Black church testimony during the Slave period, where Black folks were told to wait for the Bye and Bye.

Black people are afraid to speak out about this because
they have u brainwashed thinking u shouldn’t demand something…
if there are no jobs u Must. And everything is stacked against
us now because we have a Black President, he have a job, and
he will never have to worry about money again nor his family.
So less not be so Passive here . Dr Boyce is right on many things
and guess what if Mitt Romney wins u can blame yourselves for

Spoken so well. I watch shows where black people are either apart of the panel or a guest and their body language change so that the whites or whomever of lighter color can feel comfortable around them. Then laugh more, and come across as being overly friendly and I wonder why…… Watch the View, or any show with a black person or guest you’ll see….

To Comment Poster “Destitute America”–
Re: your response to my comments posted regarding Black America’s “Boule” and question asking if I wanted some of “your kool-Aide”, how about you dump the liquid, be open to learn important and relevant information about how wicked, powerful people operate, and most of all, if you haven’t done so read, study, and learn Almighty God’s Word and all about His Son Lord Savior Jesus Christ and also all important that Jesus said and what all of Almighty God’s chosen prophets learned, said, and carried out only via Almighty God’s Power. And, again, don’t drink your poison Kool-Aide but instead welcome learning and hearing the truth no matter how disturbing or unpopular such may be. In fact, the wicked and foolish killed Jesus because of His Truth freely outspoken to the people, His Power to heal, and His Power to devine to educate, influence, change minds, hearts, and save people via Truth about worldly evil and The Word of Almighty God. Destitute in America choose to become rich in devine truth, knowledge, wisdom, and spirit. Receive the message and check it out versus name-call crucifying the messenger. Peace!

To Comment Poster Shakira Abdul-Ali,
A few rhetorical questions. Have you been in the past or are you now a member of the “Boule”? Also, why and how in the world have you and other unfortunate African Americans reached the conclusion that black people should not unite to create in Africa thriving businesses and employment opportunities for black people continent-wide and that we would not conduct business trade with America after doing so?
Sorry, but honestly most of what you stated and also the emphasis you placed on certain words within your written content where you spelled certain words in all caps seems odd to me, almost as if it was a private signal of some kind from you to certain others. veiled opposition to my discussion of the Boule’, and also desired

We have serious mental health issues. Why would any black business hire whites? Especially Essence or Ebony magazines.
Besides, they should be hiring black men. After all, as an educated professional black male, when black women see me walking down the hall or walk into a meeting, they are scared because they are so busy clinging to white employees.
We are really in a sad state.

I have been saying what Dr. Watkins is saying, for years. However, it is easier said than done.
When I was a kid growing up in Tampa, FL and Washington, DC, blacks had their own businesses because they had to. All of my doctors were black. All of the pharmacists, and lawyers I incountered were black. The auto repair shops were black, and the shoe repair shop was black. Of course these were all businesses in black neighborhoods, sustained by the the inhabitants of such. Then came integration. Every cure or remedy has a side effect. I would need to write a book to explain my views on how to tackle the problem, but I think enough is being written on the subject currently. It is time to stop focusing on the obstacles and start action plans. One THING I will say in this short read is that we have to instill in our young people a sense of being rather than having. We are in a culture of MAKE IT QUICK, MAKE IT BIG. Our young people see rappers and ball players making millions with very little education, and wonder why they should struggle so hard just to eke out a living with a business venture. Maybe some of you have some suggestions. Isn’t this what we pseudo intellectuals are suppose to be doing or are we just going to be content to piss each other off, day after day?

Thanks Boyce.
A Black owned business community s a great dream to have but the chances of t ever happening is not good. The comments on here that are divided show how divided we are. Shocker, we were never together in the first place. We need something like a talented 10th of those who know the nword is self-hate and that Black buisnesses will not thrive without a change in the climate of us as being not good as business. Americans trust white people or ligt skinned brothas from an Ivy League school but they do not trust Black intellect in general. It took almost 300 years to have Asian Cuisine become an American staple. In the early 1800’s Asian were ridiculed but were becoming the clothes washers for whites. See the history developing here? Now they own cleaners and restaurants with their own language and sense of community. They did not need to march to integrate! The number one food destination at the turn of the 20th Century was Italian. Again, see the history and why others can do what they do? We had nothing anyone in this Country wanted to buy!!! You have to have a HISTORY of commerce with those in your country
to be talking about building Black businesses. It sounds good but they will fail because there is no root in this country of trust in anything Black people do that takes our brains and does not entertain white society. We marched to go to school with whitey but not to have businesses and manager trainings. We thought God would feel sorry for us and make the white man love us. Well, 50 years later the groups who did not march are doing well economically and we have churches. Not Churches chicken, churches? In a capitalist society we have a million churches?! REALLY?! Hmmm… Our churches are however, the key, though but they have to update the message. Faith without works, is dead… and without sound (business) counsel the people perish.
Our churches need to transform into centers for the study of history first and get a sense of why we are where we are and
and not see how we are behind any damn group, why would a just God allow that? She wouldn’t. We have our answer in front of us and it is not more integration. Churches transformed into Centers for the rebuilding of the mind of the Ex-slave. Black Liberation Theology is about us specifying the Word to fit our specific situation not a general one.

Its so funny that Whites, Hispanics, Asians and other non black races stick together, support one another, go the extra mile with 2nd chance opportunities! I had a black male employer in 2003, It was the 2nd time I had worked for a black person ever, and it was always unorganized, ran poorly company. It was really difficult to stay on there, but I did. Long-story-short, this black male employer was a full pledged avid cocaine user. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist in the other races. We have a very small community in the black race, our chances are minimal for success, so why ruin opportunities by risking it with drugs and alcohol? Hiring people who are there for the pay and not to assist or support, leads to down trodden work environment! GOD has absolutely nothing to do with Adam & Eve disobeying him and causing us long suffering. Jesus Christ passed the hardest test of all mankind *DEATH* BY LETHAL STONING, we’re no better than he is! We need to look inside ourselves and find out who we really are as individuals and go the extra mile in helping others, because at the end of the day IT ISN’T about us at all, its about how we can make this world a better place helping our fellow brothers and sisters! If u reach one, u can teach one!

Dr. Boyce is only reemphasizing the teachings of Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, and every other real black nationalist leader who has said the same thing. And it is an obvious truth. I think the perfect example he gives is of his daughter. human beings take care of their own first, so it is only mythological that the white man would offer the same opportunity to us, over his cousins, uncles, friends, social group etc… (other whites). Though this notion is PUSHED upon us by the white media to believe America is equal opportunity, anybody who has been black long enough should know this too be theoretical. The only equality and respect we can expect is the respect we demand, by producing our own, and punishing those who interfere with our means of production. Not begging our historical slave master to let us work for him at the expense of sacrificing our culture. There is no law the white man will legislate that will “threaten” his dominance, and equality for black people in America means we could possibly dominate the politics, and economics (much like we dominate most major sports), provided we made the right moves. The white power structure maintains wealth and control like any other monarchy – and every monarchy (do maintain its dominance) must make use of caste systems to keep some people up, and some people down. This is the reason for EVERY industrial complex. Its not coincidental that EVERY institution seems to target us.
I will say this to Dr. Boyce, however, Black people were very conscious of this in the 60’s and before, and this is why we had so many businesses before (before the government put dope in our communities) places like Watts, Atlanta (even to this day), Harlem, and many other had numerous black businesses. We all knew that we had to work together to succeed, just like any other human family. However, the modern, colorblind theory, so pervasive in the media, has influenced black people into believing unity is no longer necessary for survival (despite the obvious facts). They make black unity, black power, black nationalism etc.. seem as if they are racist, and comparable to white supremacy, when in reality we need not hear racists slogan or see a cracker from Georgia covered in a white sheet to understand white power, because white power comes with a badge and a gun, or a suit, or even a negro president who’s existence is only beneficial to lobbyist and other members of the white power structure. We are shrouded in some imaginary feeling of accomplishment now that we have a black president, despite our economic disparities, which mirror the 1800s. Quoting Dr King, when Dr King, was also against the economic disparities which have crippled us since he was alive and still exist now. People need to read the auto Bio of Dr KIng 4real.

Elijah Muhummad, Farrakhan, have been preaching and teaching
“do for self” for years. I belive they they were the first black organization, that opened up businesses and hired blacks who couldn’t find a job, which I think a lot has to do with not being technical enough for the times. This society is not so labor intensive for manpower like it once was. In Georgia, they have land they grow their agriculture and trade in the market.
That was the best thing I liked about islam and came close to joining it, I just couldn’t give up that pork and white women, I was weak on this, like superman was to kryptonite. LOL!

In the city of Atlanta I watched many black business started and many flailed, because there was not enough sacrifice and dedication, there was to much self involved monies not put back into the business to make it go ; but monies were spent immediately on luxury cars and houses and parties trying to prove they had somewhat arrived not sacrificing to make the business run well . there are many black business in the city that have done well and are still in operation but their code and goals were totally differentthis was observe in the early sixties until the eighties.
I also watched stores ran by jewish people that could not some speak english , they helped each other to succeed, I watched some lived in the back of the store ate saltine crackers and cream cheese used their money to buy supplies to make the business go .
Some of our problems are self inflicted because the lack of trust, look at what happen to three men with stolen checks from the Obama campaign headquarters attempting to deposit and withdraw cash form the account, would you go in business with people of this nature? the key word if being faithful , what ever you do ,do it as unto the Lord. Our hope is not in man but the Lord.

As a small business owner myself, Dr. Boyce makes a valid point. However, as many have stated, it takes capital and commitment to start and run a lucrative business, and everybody is not business savvy. Moreover, let us not forget the Jim Crow period, the enactment of the civil rights laws are to protect us against discrimination. Furthermore, if Blacks are spending money in white institutions, Blacks should also get a piece of the pie.

I think its amazing that you call us “white men” Satan when its your own race that is doing the most damage to itself. Stop making excuses, there have been numerous minority groups brought into this country that haver faced the same issues you have but they worked through it…they didnt stop and start to ask for special treatment, no..they went out there and igmnored all the noise and did something for themselves. All i see in these comments is people hating on the white man for this and that….stop blaming us for your failures. I dont know if you have realized this yet but most of the top positions in this country are held by African Americans……give up the pitty party and get out there and stop hating and pointing fingers.
